I find birdhouses to be a resonant totem for home-not for a physical structure or location, but the sometimes elusive feeling of home that is always inside you. Home as a psychic space that requires care and cultivation.

I've always been transient. I was six months old for my first intercontinental move. Creating inhabiting and sharing a home is important to me. This piece intends to create an anachronistic, otherworldly space for wanderers to stumble upon. Its implied narrative seeks to distract participants from self-conscious or prescriptive interactions. The birdhouse uses curiosity to draw people in, playfully encouraging them to explore with childlike wonder. It aims to create a space to step out of their habitual rush; to take some time, be in the present and savor an intimate moment with close friends or even oneself. The space is a stage with just enough trappings of its world to encourage participants to let go, leave their daily life behind and co-create a new home.
